Description of Project:

The choice of plant technology to be adopted arose from the need to provide for the reduction of nitrogen compounds by biological process of nitrification and denitrification and by need to have a filtration treatment on membranes to ensure greater yields treatment without increasing the area occupied by the plant.

The analysis conducted has led to the inclination of MBR technology, which allows to combine advantageously the proven reliability of conventional activated sludge systems and the high membrane filtration performance, ensuring very high effluent quality purified, as confirmed by the numerous installations already present in Italy and in the world.

A further advantage, decisive result in the choice, is linked to the fact that MBR technology allows more than any other to limit plant volumes, allowing to limit the occupation of surfaces and therefore the territorial impact, to the benefit of the context surrounding the plant. 

In light of the assessments carried out as part of the estimation of the flow rates currently transferred to the Calcinelli treatment plant, the calculation of the project flow rates was carried out maintaining the per capita water supply of 250 L/PE/d and increasing the equivalent population served by the plant in the project configuration to 9000 PE.
