Given the particular complexity, both in terms of management and flow diagram, which characterizes the plant object of this study, the realization of a model in stationary conditions is configured as the best approach in the evaluation of the process, also with a view to the subsequent design phase.
The purpose of this project is to adapt the system in order to ensure the treatment of the flow rates in rainy weather provided for by R.R. 6/19, considering the authorized potential of 620’600 AE and the respective organic loads generated, determined with the per capita contributions from the literature typical for civil wastewater.
For this reason, first of all, the system was checked in its current state with the project data, both from a hydraulic and process point of view. Following the results obtained, various design alternatives were investigated, suitable for resolving the criticalities that emerged.
Within the studio, several design alternatives were developed which were then compared. The multicriteria analysis carried out compared the following biological process technologies:
- Bardenpho activated sludge technology;
- Activated sludge technology with intermittent aeration;
- MBR technology (Bio Reactor Membranes);
- AGS (Aerobic Granular Sludge) technology.
